In the MindOS model of the Psyche, it is broken down into four general parts similar to those used by the legal profession in describing a "person" (cognitive, emotional and volitional capacity, with rights):

1. Intellectual Function (Cognitive Capacity or Cognition) - that pertaining to what psychiatrists call Executive Function, including but not limited to logic, structure, creativity, language, calculation, spatial orientation, ideas, both factual and abstract, and including memory both "declarative memory" and "procedural memory", thoughts, beliefs and preferences, communication, goal-seeking, and other non-emotional, non-passion-based features. The "psychological currency" or "social currency" of which in social deal-making or exchange is "time." It costs time to exchange information of undergo an intellectual process.

2. Emotional Function (Emotional Capacity) - that pertaining to the emotions and their dynamics, including positive and negative emotions, positive being broken into Well-being + Confidence, which is Self-esteem (this Equation being known as the E=mc2 of Psychology), and negative being broken into Hurt + Loss (which is Stress), when located outside one's personal boundary, and Unhappiness, composed of Anger + Anxiety when located within one's personal boundary. It is also the core dynamics of love, friendship, the valence or amount of "value" (as in what one cherishes or values), and the "glue" which tethers one's beliefs in random memory. It is also said to be localized in the Mammalian Brain area of software function of the mind. The "psychological currency" or "social currency" of which in social deal-making or exchange is "love." It costs love to exchange emotion or engage in friendship, or to undergo an emotional process.

3. Decision-making Function (Volition) - that pertaining to decisions and their dynamics, and tied to the twin skills and features of conscience (ethics) and intuition (shrewdness). A feature of intention and action, as well as operating the anatomical aspect of the personal boundary doors. The "psychological currency" or "social currency" of which in social deal-making or exchange is "freedom." It costs freedom to exchange decision-making power or undergo a decision-making process.

4. Personal Boundary Function (rights) - that pertaining to rights, privacy, property or territory owned and controlled by an individual, both physical and psychological. Characterized by various anatomical working parts of which their are three major - boundary holes, boundary walls and boundary doors, the last of which is mature or good boundary function, and the former two of which are immature or bad or poor boundary function. These anatomical features, especially the boundary holes, are largely responsible for Ego Defenses, including the Immature Ego Defenses such as Denial, Projection, Projective Identification, as well as pathological narcissism traits of perfectionism and entitlement and dishonesty (lying). The "psychological currency" or "social currency" of which in social deal-making or exchange is "strength." It costs strength to lend boundary function to another person or undergo a personal strengthening or personal growth process.

Not included as one of the four but possibly meriting special mention is the cognitive ability to self-monitor and self-advise, also known as Observing Ego, the only learned human skill through which psychological growth and change can occur, and the very skill or feature of psychology responsible for avoiding regret, highlighted automatically through having diagrammatic representations of psychology. Observing Ego is "you looking at you," which is what diagrams of psychology provide, symbolically.

Evolutionary Psychologists may also correlate Executive Functions such as Intellectual Function, Personal Boundary Function, and Observing Ego as localized to the area of the software of the mind called the Higher Brain.
